Date of Passing: May 24, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLINDA SHELLRUDE (TORGERSON) With deep sadness, the family announces Lindas passing at the age of 50 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, on May 24, 2003 at Riverview Health Centre. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband Don; children, Christopher (Amanda) and Erik; her parents Margaret and Gus; and her brother Doug (Lori) brother-in-law Brian (Nancy) grandchildren, Sydney and Curtis; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Linda will be especially missed by her cousin and dearest friend Sharon. She will also be missed by all her many friends, but especially by Janis and Janet. Linda worked at M.P.I.C. for over 15 years and made many friends during her time there. She will be greatly missed by Theresa, Pat and the rest of the "gang" at M.P.I.C. Linda was a truly caring person who put the needs of others, especially her family and friends, ahead of her own. She especially enjoyed time spent with family at the Lake Manitoba Narrows cottage where she enthusiastically pursued her interests in gardening, decorating and playing with her dogs, Molly, Zoie and Suzie. Linda contributed to the lives of everyone who knew her. We will be forever grateful for her life and will dearly miss her. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Riverview Health Centre, and a special thank you to Jayne at CancerCare Manitoba for the care Linda received during the course of her illness. Family and friends may, if they wish, make a donation in Lindas memory to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. God looked around His garden, and found an empty space. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain, He knew that you might never Get well upon this earth again. He knew the road was getting rough And the hills were too hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, "Peace be thine" It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you the day God called you home.
